You’re in a rowboat with the love of your life. Hundreds of white swans swim around you. You can’t imagine a more romantic night. And then the clouds open up and it starts pouring. But instead of the night being ruined, it somehow becomes even more perfect.
If you’ve ever seen The Notebook, you know just the scene I’m talking about. And you’ve probably also been dying to have your own moment just like that one.
A few weeks ago, I went to the beautiful garden where that scene was filmed and I finally had my own Noah and Allie moment (even if it was with my best friend instead of a guy).
The location is Cypress Gardens and it’s located about 30 miles outside of Charleston, South Carolina.
With 3.5 miles of breathtaking hiking trails (where you’re guaranteed to see some baby alligators and cool spiders), a “swamparium” (home to many species of fish, reptiles, and amphibians), and a beautiful butterfly house, you could spend hours here and never get bored.
But the best part of the garden just happens to be the reason Noah took Allie here to begin with: the row boats. You can choose to have a guided boat tour through the swamp (for $5) or take your own personal boat on a self guided tour (free with limited availability).
Finally, when you’re done exploring, there is a small park located near the entrance with food trucks and picnic tables for you to enjoy a nice lunch.
What are some of your favorite summer spots? Let me know in the comments below!
